We hope you are staying well and managing to balance children, work and home. We last wrote to all parents just before Cygnets closed to most children on Friday 20th March. We have been caring for a few children whose parents are keyworkers and have stayed in the Cygnets building to better isolate our staff and the children from the bigger group of staff and children in school.
We hope you have all had a chance to look at https://www.cygnets.org.uk/home-learning-ideas to help keep your little ones entertained.
In our previous letter we outlined our plan to invoice for the summer term. Thank you all for your commitment to the setting and messages of support for this plan. We have since had further clarification on funding from Cambridgeshire County Council and our baseline operating costs are just covered by the continuation of funded hours. As part of that guidance, childcare settings were asked to do everything they could to help parents through these uncertain times.
We have therefore decided not to invoice for the summer term. We have sufficient reserves so our previous plan of invoicing and providing credits would just create unnecessary work for our office manager.
However, we would like to ask - if your family’s financial circumstances are unchanged - whether you would consider making a donation of some or all of your usual fees to support Cygnets through this time. The funded hours simply enable us to continue to pay our staff. The funding will not stretch to cover required building maintenance costs nor improvements to our resources. We had to cancel the major fundraising event of the year, the Easter Fayre, so don’t have the funds that we had hoped to raise.
Please make donations to The Cygnets Milton Pre-School, Sort Code 20-60-38, Account number 43270874.
Thank you for your continued support. We will continue to update you and look forward to eventually welcoming you all back.
