Phased return 2nd June 2020
Follow on from government guidance we will be welcoming back some of our children from June 2nd. We are looking forward to welcoming back as many of our children as it is safe to do so. Cygnets has put together a robust risk assessment to ensure measures are in place to keep children and staff as safe as possible our risk assessment can be found under our documents page. Please contact email@example.com to register an interest in sessions. Please note that applications for sessions in September 2020 can still be made and are, as usual, filling up fast.
For our families continuing with home schooling, our weekly learning plans will continue to be published and can be found on our home learning ideas page.
Update 11th May 2020
It has been announced that phased school returns could happen from 1 June (after half term) at the earliest. We have now received confirmation that this will include early years settings. We are currently working through the guidance to plan the kind of provision we will be able to offer our children and families.
We understand our families will have questions and we will be in touch with you all as soon as possible.
Closure of Cygnets due to COVID-19
Cygnets will close to most children at the end of Friday 20th March. At present we have no indication as to whether this is an extended Easter holiday or a longer period. All parents have received a letter with more details about funding and fees.
Children of keyworkers are eligible for childcare. As we expect relatively low numbers we may combine provision with Milton school to minimise the number of staff needed. We are working on staffing plans with the school, who are working with schools in the wider area to look at resources. The current guidance regarding keyworkers can be found here https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-maintaining-educational-provision/guidance-for-schools-colleges-and-local-authorities-on-maintaining-educational-provision Please let us know immediately if you now think that you will need childcare.
Government guidance emphasises that everyone should follow these key principles:
If it is at all possible for children to be at home, then they should be.
If a child needs specialist support, is vulnerable or has a parent who is a critical worker, then educational provision will be available for them.
Parents should not rely for childcare upon those who are advised to be in the stringent social distancing category such as grandparents, friends, or family members with underlying conditions.
Parents should also do everything they can to ensure children are not mixing socially in a way which can continue to spread the virus. They should observe the same social distancing principles as adults.
Please keep an eye on tapestry and this website for updates. We will soon send out links to resources and ideas for things to do with your Cygnets at home. Thank you for your continued support and we hope we will all be back together soon.
